My journey in the electrical field began at the age of 11 when I enrolled at the Technological Institute in Manizales, Caldas, Colombia. After six years of study, I earned my first Electrician License and officially started my career in the industry.

I then served for 10 years in the Colombian Air Force, where I specialized in Military Radar Maintenance and obtained my Aeronautical Electronics Technologist degree through training with the United States Air Force.

In 2015, I achieved my Electrical Red Seal Certification in British Columbia, and today, I am a fully insured, licensed, and Certified Master Electrician based in Calgary, AB.

  • A: Our standard service call is $160, which covers the first hour of a Master Electrician’s time. This includes the travel to your home and the diagnostic work to find the root of your electrical issue.

  • A: For tasks like pulling wire through finished walls, installing heavy panels, or large-scale pot light installs, two sets of hands make the job significantly safer and faster. At $165/hr for both, it often ends up costing the homeowner less in total labor than one person working alone for twice as long.

  • A: No. As a local Chestermere business, we do not charge additional travel or "trip" fees for our neighbors within the city limits.

  • A: Every job is overseen or performed by a certified Master Electrician. We believe in providing the highest level of expertise for every call, ensuring your home meets the 2024–2026 Canadian Electrical Code standards.

  • A: Not necessarily. We can often install "twin" or "tandem" breakers to create space or install a Sub-Panel. However, we must first perform a Load Calculation to ensure your main service (e.g., 100-amp) can handle the additional draw of a Level 2 charger without overloading.

  • A: Unlike standard breakers that trip on a "short circuit," AFCI breakers detect dangerous electrical "arcing" (sparks) caused by damaged wires or loose connections behind walls. If your AFCI is tripping, it is doing its job—preventing a potential fire. We use specialized diagnostic tools to find the exact point of the arc.

  • A: Aluminum wiring is safe if the connections are maintained. The danger comes from "oxidization" at switches and outlets, which causes heat. We provide AlumiConn or "Pig-tailing" services using specialized anti-oxidant paste and connectors to make your aluminum-wired home safe and insurable.

  • A: Surges can come from lightning or, more commonly, from the utility grid (Fortis/Enmax). A Whole-Home Surge Protective Device (SPD) is installed at your main panel and protects your expensive electronics (fridges, TVs, computers) from being fried by voltage spikes. In Alberta’s storm season, these are highly recommended.

  • A: It is an Electric Vehicle Energy Management System. It acts like a "traffic cop" for your home’s power. It monitors how much electricity your whole house is using in real-time. If you turn on your stove, dryer, and AC all at once, the "Black Box" will temporarily pause your car charger to prevent your main breaker from tripping.

  • A: Your car will still charge, just smarter. Most household power spikes (like cooking dinner) only last 30–60 minutes. The Black Box simply pauses the charger during that peak and automatically resumes full-speed charging once your appliances are turned off. Since most people charge overnight when the house is "quiet," you’ll likely never even notice it working.

  • A: Cost and Simplicity.

    • Service Upgrade: Can cost $3,500 – $5,000+ and requires coordinating with the utility (Fortis/Enmax) to dig up wires or change the service mast.

    • Black Box: Usually costs significantly less and can be installed in a few hours without changing your main service. It’s the fastest way to get a charger into a 100-amp home.

  • A: Yes. Brands like Black Box Innovations and DCC are CSA/UL approved and fully compliant with the Canadian Electrical Code (Section 8). Using one of these devices allows us to legally omit the EV charger from your home's "load calculation," which is why you don't need the service upgrade.

  • A: A very faint hum is normal for devices with internal transformers or contactors. However, if you hear a loud buzzing or "chattering" sound, it could indicate a loose connection or debris in the contactor. Give us a call, and we can perform a quick diagnostic check.
